After adopting my first rescue in 2014, I wanted to find a way to give back to my local animal shelter. The Ales for Tails Pub Crawl began in August of 2015 as a way to do just that.
Each year I brand the event and create fun swag to promote the cause long after the night is over by giving out t-shirts, koozies, coasters, stickers, and pins. Being the t-shirt snob that I am (kidding, sort of!) I usually go with the softest I can find - and not surprisingly I’ve been told by many they’ve fast become their favorite tees.
On average over the last 4 years we’ve had around 35-50 attendees and raised between $1,000 and $1,500 each year for the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter. This year’s design was a labor of love - while I am not an illustrator in the traditional sense of the word, I dabble in it often and had a vision in my head to feature both of my rescue pups (Dottie & Georgie) in a semi-surreal state, partaking in a bubbly beverage in honor of the pub crawl. It was a fun and challenging undertaking that after many attempts came out exactly how I had hoped.
